Gigging time is here again

2006 is set to be a corker year for gigs! Already you know about The Darkness (February 5th), Trivium (March 5th) and Fighstar (who gives a fuck what date), but now word reaches the hallowed Belfast Metal Reunited Mansion of more to come...
  • Dragonforce play the Spring & Airbrake on 19th March;
  • Coheed & Cambria play the Limelight on 6th February;
  • Avenged Sevenfold play in Dublin (not giving out a date until they agree to a Belfast gig!);
  • Plus more to be confirmed when I get a moment to calm down with a pint of Murphys and a wee Jack D...

Well, apart from the darkness.....are there any good bands coming or are we gonna be stuck with these poor imitations of great bands from the past, trivium????? poor man's metallica/slayer.....fightstar...just poor and the jurys out on coheed & co. Can see Jovi in may and hopefully Sykes/Gorham b4 that being the hilites....plus a few tribute bands, better than most of the new crap anyhow(they don't even get a mention)

excuse me Trivium and coheed & co are keeping the dream alive just wait until all your fav bands die and then what are you going to do 4 gigs again A7X sound more and more like Maiden every day and I reckon if you listen hard enough mark you will like them you are just a narrow minded old man!!!

Now Now Nadia! Old yes....narrow minded no.... Trivium & Co. keeping the dream alive.....i think your dreaming! Old bands don't die, ok you can't go to a gig but have to say that most recent rock/metal gigs i've been to lately are 10% rock fans 90% wankers who are either there to text, drink or talk all thru a bands set! Don't think i'll miss that. I, like yer da was there when metallica were just getting huge, anthrax, manowar,and i've had the priv of seeing Phil Lynott live.....if Trivium A7X or the like were playin' in my back garden i'd shut the windows & put on anything by thin lizzy, THATS keeping the dream alive......try some rush, dream theater, lizzy, ac/dc, 4get this new stuff cos they'll never last, you can count on it, why.....cos they aint good enuff and aint original....been done b4 and been done better

Oh, 4got to address 1 other point! Why should I have to listen hard in order to like something. Does that mean if I listen hard enuff to Westlife i'll like 'em???? Never ever had to listen hard to Lizzy,Rush,Metallica,Slayer,Maiden,Purple,Zep,AC/DC,Motorhead,Sabbath,Whitesnake,Leppard,Jovi,Scorpions,Marillion,Magnum,Dream Theater..........the list goes on 4ever, so sorry but IMO Trivium, A7X and the like don't stand a chance, and i have tried to listen to 'em, honest.....but sorry, i think they are crap! So i'll happily live out the rest of my days going thru the above list and wont miss any of the (Nu)Metal rubbish that's being churned out by all these pretenders

Great Blog! Just thought I’d add the Day of Darkness Metalfest, Ballylinan, Co Loais, July 8th 2006 to the list. If the safety of mainstream metal is all you have time and the treasure trove that is the metal underground (where all the bands you now like ultimately came from) then it probably won’t be for you. But no harm in taking a look, we just might have something in the pipeline for 2006 that could be right up your street www.dayofdarkness.com (we also have a blog – have a look).
