COMIN' ATCHA: Still on the road 40 years on - Y&T geared up for Belfast show

THERE'S something remarkable about hard rock acts that they can endure the trials and tribulations of age to keep on rockin'. And, tomorrow in Belfast's Limelight1 an example of longevity will hit the stage when Y&T return to mark 40 years in the business.

In the 80s Y&T were the go-to-band for music channels, with 'Summertime Girls', 'Lipstick & Leather' and 'Mean Streak' all getting extensive airtime...even today channels such as VH1 Classic features these videos.

Such is their appeal as a band that we know of one local couple who have been following Y&T across the UK tour, and are eagerly awaiting the return of the band to Belfast.

It is not a band, however, that trades just on legacy tours. Given the strength of output such as 2010's 'Facemelter' they remain fresh and relevant -  something founder member Dave Meniketti has always been keen to ensure since the reformation of the band in 1995 after a four-year break.

As an added bonus for gig-goers on Wednesday local act Maverick will be pumping out tracks, some from the forthcoming new album (release date November 28th - read the review here).

If you haven't seen Maverick live then you will feel the elemental force this band can generate on stage tomorrow (Wednesday).

And, if you haven't seen Y&T before, well you really are in for a treat!
