THIS weekend sees a clatter of good shows to tempt you away from your hearth and avoid the wall-to-wall election coverage.
We do hope that actually do vote (if you don't somebody else vote counts more) but once you've exercised your democratic rights you'll need a wee rest, so head up to the Eglantine to see Scimitar, The Crawling, and Shrouded - it's free event, but steady on before you get too ripped up.
That's because on Friday night we get to find out who is the winner of Norn Iron's Metal2TheMasses...after tortuous heats and semi-finals six bands are set to slug it out for the coveted slot at Bloodstock in August at Belfast's Voodoo.
Mr Bloodstock, Simon Hall, will preside over the performances of Cursed Sun, Drakonis, Sinocence, So Long Until the Séance (SLUTS), Scimitar and The Crawling.
All for the measly sum of £5 (and there's other 'stuff' on the night to keep you entertained, as always).
Saturday sees Lo Mejor play the Diamond and the Screaming Eagles (unplugged) in O'Reilly's.
And, down at The Distortion Project's Saturday evening show sees The Irontown Diehards pre-album release show, with support from Cross Eyed Mary and On Parole.

And this weekend brings y'all rock and metal in abundance
RIGHT people if you want some hard rock and heavy metal you are spoiled for choice - and are going to have to make some tough choices about what to see and what to sacrifice.
The clashes start on Friday (April 17th) when fundraising event 'Darrenfest' brings together three ass-kicking bands to bring metalheads together in a good cause in the Voodoo, in Fountain Street.
Rabid Bitch of the North, fresh from besieging Limerick (at the Siege of Limerick...) will be headlining. Support comes from one of Satan's favourite bands, Zlatanera, and the doomy stylings of Bad Boat.
Tickets are a mere £5, and there is a raffle with some fantastic prizes.
At the same time in 'The Bar With No Name' on Dublin Road Hexxed will be launching their 'Hidden Graphics' ep with support coming from Continuous Battle of Order. Admission £6.
Now, come Saturday there are more clashes, but before deciding where to go at 21:00 get yourselves along to Limelight2.
Why? Because it is the last heat in the Bloodstock 'Metal 2 The Masses' - your last chance to vote for a band to reach the semi-finals of Northern Ireland heat.
Taking to the stage are four bands: Cursed Sun, Dead Addiction, A Little Bitter and Shrouded. The whole shebang kicks off at 5pm, and for five pounds sterling you get the chance to help decide who goes through to the semi-final. Come along and get voting!
Fresh from exercising your heavy metal franchise (well it is more fun than the General Election!) you are faced with another choice...
In the Pavilion the hard rockin' bluesy act Lo Mejor launch their début CD. Given past live performances it is sure to be a stormer...
But in terms of storms...Skinned will be arriving from the good ol' USofA to bring the noise to the Warzone Centre. Death metal terror will be in support in the shape of Zombified, with Wardomized and The Crawling also on the bill. £10 gets you in - and it's BYO.
Also on Saturday Lower Than Atlantis appear in the Bar Sub, QUBSU, with We Are The Ocean and PVRIS in support. £6 gets you through the door.
Now, by any stretch of the imagination that is one helluva weekend of rock and metal!

LIVE REVIEW: Rockin' the Diamond with Ajenda and Lo Mejor
THE Diamond Rock Club has seen quite a few things in recent weeks, from a confirmed engagement through to a wedding reception on Saturday (9th August).
The wedding reception to the tunes of Ajenda and Lo Mejor was appropriate as the happy couple, Cathy and Graham first dated at an Ajenda gig...in the Diamond
Last night the newlyweds were serenaded with a bucket full of great tunes. Opening were relatively new act, Lo Mejor...even if the members have been around a while. Steve on vocals, Niall on guitar, and the two Andy's forming the rhythm section (Andy McKeown, bass, and Andy Logan on drums).
For those that aren't aware of the backstory the four piece contains members of Swanee River, Hungers Mother and Sub 60.
Steve - in between blasting out tunes new and old - urged all present to visit their Facebook profile...apologising for not having a website as yet. What they do have is an urgent sound, real soul in their performance and groove a plenty in a mix of classic r&b and hard rock.
In a tribute to the late Johnny Winters they played Winters' version of Jumping Jack Flash, with Niall showing how much he is capable of, as he did throughout the set. Steve's vocals have a rich, velvety resonance that he can step up to a throaty roar when required and the two Andy's were very tight in each and every song.
What is certain is that Lo Mejor have bucket loads of potential, and road testing material before recording is a sure fire way for them to hone their sound.
Ajenda have honed their sound yet further since the release of 'Unrecognisable'. However, last night a few technical issues threw them off their game for a while.
But that is not to criticise the performance - even the best band can be thrown off momentarily when gear goes awry.
What Ajenda have is a cohesive sound, with killer rock songs that should be dominating the FM and AM stations in USA. It's almost perfect for that driving experience along stretches of freeway.
From 'Unrecognisable' we were treated to the likes of 'Tattoo ', 'Dirty Rock 'n' Roll' and 'Hatred and Greed'. amongst a range of sounds.
While Jenny is undoubtedly the focus, with her stage presence and a soulful voice that could coax the hardest heart to melt, Ajenda have real musical muscle behind her.
Gav is a technical marvel with his six-string, coaxing a range of sounds from the axes he wields with deft precision.
Peter (drums) and Janny (bass) have an almost telepathic link as they anchor the sound.
While Ajenda ply their craft in the general classic rock/AOR mode there is no doubt that they underpin it all with a real awareness of their forebears and how to add unique flourishes to the sound.
Glitches aside Jenny, Gav, Peter and Janny laid down a tremendous show in the Diamond. That so many had taken the time to travel on a night when other gigs/entertainment was going on is a tribute to the draw they can be (plus those there to toast Cathy and Graham's marriage too).
This was the last Diamond Rock Club show for a couple of weeks as Derwin, Paul, Tony et al take a well deserved break from keeping one of the best 'secret' venues ticking over with rock.
And, what a send-off it was them!
