Ravenspell set Obsidian King for March release

Canadians promise killer heavy metal on Fighter Recordsm debut

Another press release...here it is in its full verbose glory...might review this to see if the hype can be realised

We came in search of legends, following in the footsteps of fallen heroes. We have crossed nameless, storm-tossed oceans and seas of sand beneath a merciless sun. Through snow shrouded mountain passes and forests that seemed to swallow the world we have marched undaunted. And now, with steel in hand we take the final step, through the shadow gate into the realm of the Obsidian King. The darkness enfolds us and as our spirits tremble the only sound is the beating of titanic wings…

With a searing riff and a lung-bursting scream the listener is catapulted into the world of the Obsidian King, the debut full length album from Canadian heavy metal force Ravenspell! Opening track ‘God The Watcher’ is a breathless introduction to this revelatory band; steeped in classic metal atmosphere, adorned in beautifully fluid guitar leads and masterfully combining metallic power and sumptuous melodies.

‘Onwards We March’ follows with its driving riffs and rhythms and already there can be no doubt that this is a band, an album, that will speak to every true metal heart.

As it progresses Obsidian King just seems to get stronger and stronger, drawing us ever deeper into its magnificent twilight world.

At the album’s heart we find tracks like ‘Obsidian Wing’ with its superlative, unforgettable melodic chorus rising out of pure, thunderous metal; the thrilling charge of the adrenalized ‘Hellstorm’ and the metal masterpiece that is ‘Raise Hell’ – featuring some fantastic interplay between roared vocals and gleaming shards of lead work.

Then at the Obsidian King’s conclusion we find the grandeur of ‘Atilla’, a truly epic song that moves through superb classical guitar parts, doom-touched riffs, cascading drums, stunning solos and instrumental sections that seem to open up vast vistas of the imagination…it’s a glorious metal creation and a fitting finish to an album of breathtaking quality.

Mixed and mastered by David Lizotte (Ültra Raptör, Saccage etc), Obsidian King benefits from a textured, organic sound that captures the blood, sweat, passion and belief of the musicians who have crafted it. In this age of fakery, imitation and flexible truths this album stands tall as something real and vital, a work of substance.

Completed by the haunting artwork of renowned Canadian artist Carl Lavoie, Obsidian King will be released by Fighter Records on March 12th, on CD, 12” LP, Cassette and digital formats and the speed and melody, character and fire of Ravenspell will be felt around the metal world. Join the Black Feather Legion and be there at the start of a legend.
