THE Dead Daisies have added a November Limelight date "by popular demand" as the revolving line-up supergroup concludes another massive year for the band.
They will play the Ormeau Road venue on November 22nd, in what promises to be a very special night as part of their 'Welcome to Disneyland' tour.
But make sure to get in the queue early - the first 50 people in the line may have the opportunity to witness a 50-minute acoustic 'Disneyland' set before the doors officially open.
For those who can't make that the Dead Daisies will play a two-hour show.

HARD Rock Hell has just closed its 'Eleventh Coming', but Jonni Davis and his team are already putting together their Glorious Twelfth for 2018.
HRH are thus proud to announce a first salvo of storming acts, chosen by the fans, who’ll be performing amidst the beautiful backdrop of North Wales, at Camp HRH in Pwllheli from 8th -11th November 2018.
The ever-mighty Saxon will be headlining HRH XII. Saxon need no introduction to fans of the genre, who’ll see their iconic logo in their mind’s eye the moment the band gets mentioned. Formed back in ’77, Saxon were at the forefront of the scene, much beloved by fans of Hard Rock Hell. What’s more,
Saxon played the very first Hard Rock Hell (the Winter Ball, back in 2007). Having sold more than 15 million albums worldwide, the band also continues to influence later giants of the genre, like Metallica, Metallica, Mötley Crüe, and Pantera, and will be raising the rafters at HRH XII.
Co-headliners The Dead Daisies are a formidable Australian-American outfit that brings together amazing talent for this collective project. The band has toured worldwide and was the first the first Western rock band to play Cuba after President Obama reopened trade ties with the country. An amazing achievement. Have a cigar, as the saying goes! The Dead Daisies will be bringing their world-famous Live and Loud sound to Hard Rock Hell next year.
Like Saxon, Girlschool played the very first Hard Rock Hell, way back when the world was young. Firm favourites of the HRH crowd, Girlschool have just won the HRH “Angels of Rock” award at the brand-new HRH AWARDS. They’re the longest running all-female rock band IN THE WORLD, and still strong and active after more than 35 years in the business.
Femme Fatale were due to play HRH XI, but weren’t able to do so because some of their guitarists were playing on another project. HRH are delighted to welcome the band to HRH XII. Listing “Loud Guitars, Vodka, Black Boots, Black Eyeliner, & Beer!” as the band’s interests, Femme Fatale will bring all this and more to Camp HRH next year!
Also announced in the very tasty first wave of bands playing the festival are Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons, Tygers of Pantang, Thunderstick, Ryders Creed, The Rising Souls, The Dukes of Bordello, and (appropriately for HRH XII) Renegade Twelve.

THE problem reviewing live albums when you are “of a certain
age” is the temptation to draw comparisons with the classics like UFO’s
Strangers In The Night, MSG’s Live at Budokan and Iron Maiden's Live After
Death.
A live album has to capture the energy of the crowd and
transport you there to see the musicians sweat, smell the pyro and get the buzz
you only get at live gigs. When you’ve been lucky enough to see the band
playing on the tour during which the album was recorded you have a fair idea
what to expect.
With the Dead Daisies you have charismatic front man John
Corabi, you know, the guy who sang on Motley Crue’s ‘best’ album, steady and original
member David Lowry on rhythm guitar, the powerhouse duo of Marco Mendoza (bass)
and Brian Tichy (drums) and Dee Snyder’s mate Doug Aldrich on lead guitar, a
player who just seems to get better and better, so you know that it’s going to
rock and most of all.... be fun! Something that seems to have been replaced by
the mundane reality of social media.
And 'Live and Louder' is a fun album.
‘Long Way To Go’ kicks off proceedings with a bang. Its
AC/DC style riff and thunderous playing of Tichy and Mendoza gives the show a
high energy start. Corabi is already in fine fettle on the mic and Aldrich’s
fills and solo already drag you in to vibe.
Moving straight into ‘Mexico’, a mid tempo rocker that keeps
the energy high with Corabi quickly getting the crowd involved. Clearly the
band are a well oiled machine and Aldrich produces the first of many blistering
solo’s.
Recorded in various European venues ‘Make Some Noise’ from
Vienna really does. Starting with a bit of Shredding from Aldrich and Tichy
pounding the skins as if his life depended on it the crowd are fully engaged.
It has a great riff throughout and produces that fun and enjoyment mentioned
earlier.
‘Song and a Prayer’ is a solid, steady rocker with a great
mix of riffs, hooks, Aldrich fills with Mendoza and Tichy as solid as ever. Mix
in Corabi’s vocals and quickly becomes a crowd favourite.
Dead Daises like to throw in a cover or two of songs that
influenced them when they were growing up and the brilliant version of
Creedance Clearwater Revivals ‘Fortunate Son’ is the first one they play.
Corabi is on top form on vocals.
‘We All Fall Down’ follows and has all the hallmarks of a
classic rock song. Good solid riff, rhythm section complimented by the rhythm
guitar, obligatory subtle key change and Aldrich knocking another one out of
the park!
So far all the songs are from their second and third albums,
“Revolución” and “Make Some Noise” but their first self titled album gets a run
out with ‘Lock ‘n ‘ Load’. It’s a slower tempo song with Aldrich taking over
the role originally played by Slash which he does with aplomb. A much more
melodic sound to this song that breaks the set up nicely.
That slower tempo continues with the start of ‘Something I
Said’ with Corabi in his element with the background vocals complimenting
perfectly. However it soon turns into a bit more of a rocker mid way through it
though with a sublime solo from Aldrich.
‘The Last Time I Saw The Sun’ is a song about being on the
road and has a great slide guitar intro from Aldrich before a full on up tempo
rocker takes over. Tichy and Mendoza are tighter than an err, tight thing and
there’s bit of cowbell (there’s no such thing as too much cowbell!) There’s no
doubt Aldrich is enjoying playing in this band.
The Who’s ‘Join Together’ is next to get the cover
treatment. With a voice box used to good effect to open and Corabi doing a
great job on Daltry’s vocals which at their Belfast gig was a personal
favourite of the Rock Radio N.I. legend that is Davy Warren! This is the song
where Corabi whips the crowd up with Tichy keeping the beat going and Aldrich
deploying the voice box again. You really get a feel for the atmosphere on this
one.
‘With You and I’ follows with Corabi telling the now totally
enthralled audience to pay special attention to the lyrics as there’s so much
shit going on all over the world. There’s a great groove to this song with the
band really laying it down.
Band introductions are next with wee snippets of AC/DC, Jimi
Hendrix, Aerosmith and Judas Priest thrown in to keep the crowd fully involved!
‘Mainline’ is jokingly introduced as a ballad as it’s far
from it and is the fastest and heaviest song in the set. With its slightly
punky feel to it, it is pure raw energy from start to finish with a tip of the
hat to Mendoza for a great bass line.
Three more cover songs follow starting with the Beatles song
‘Helter Skelter’ (originally on their Face I Love ep). Having been covered by
bands like Motley Crue, Gillan, Aerosmith and Guns ‘n’ Roses this is probably
one of the better versions, especially live!
This is followed up with an up tempo, hard hitting version
of the Grand Funk Railroad song ‘American Band’ and the Dead Daisies do indeed
“come to your town to help you party it down”
Amazingly we are at the final song and after a bit of banter
with the crowd they unleash the full on riff attack that is ‘Midnight Moses’,
originally by the Sensational Alex Harvey Band. Driven by Mendoza and Tichy, a nice rhythm
guitar line from Lowry and Corabi still singing at full throttle Aldrich lets
rip again on the lead and it’s a great ending to the album.
If you saw them on their recent tour this will take you
right back to that night as it’s total in your face Rock’n’Roll that few bands
in this genre are capable of. If you missed them you NEED this album, actually
you need it even if you were there!
The Dead Daisies have lined up the release of their captivating new single ‘A Song And A Prayer’, for today, November 4th on Spitfire Music / SPV, 8 days prior to kicking off their massive six-week joint-headline UK and European Tour with The Answer.
A short film, reflecting the poignant story behind the lyrics of ‘A Song And A Prayer’, the fourth single to be taken from The Dead Daisies’ much acclaimed new album ‘Make Some Noise’, which crashed into the Top 40 National UK album chart in August, is unveiled today (see it below).
Says John Corabi: “This song turned out to have a special vibe to it, very accessible, which is really cool. But the lyrics are rather dark. In the end it's about hope, it talks about all the troubles we're all going through - and that you have to be hopeful, that you will come out of it. Always look on the positive side, that's the message.”
The Dead Daisies, who were recently special guests on KISS’ entire ‘Freedom To Rock’ US tour, have just played their first ever USO headline tour for Servicemen and –women in South Korea. Today, November 4th, they commence performing with KISS on the Kiss Kruise in Cozumel, Mexico, until November 9th.

‘Make Some Noise’ stormed the UK Album Charts at Number
35, the Swiss National Album Chart at Number 10, the US
Hard Rock Album Chart at Number 11, debuted in the German
National Album Chart at Number 22, on the Austrian Album Chart at Number
34, on theUSA Top Hard Music Chart at Number 19, on the Swedish
Hard Rock Chart at Number 15, on the Canadian Hard Music Chart at Number
42, and came in on the USA Billboard Top Current Album Chart at Number
93.
The album landed on a total of 23 official charts around the
world.

last four years, the festival is truly massive and the Daisies were welcomed by
the giant crowd with open arms and left to thunderous applause – a true
testament to how music makes people “Join Together”!
In July and August of this year, The Dead Daisies played the
big European Festivals as well as a string of sold-out headline shows in
Ireland, the UK and Germany.
They are currently touring the United States with KISS on
their “Freedom To Rock”-Tour. This is topped off by two exclusive headline
performances in NYC and Los Angeles as well as an Acoustic Performance at
Battlefield Harley Davidson in Gettysburg, PA. They also just recently
performed at the coveted Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.
Later this year, the band will return to perform in Japan
and South Korea for the first time, set sail on the KISS KRUISE and embark on
an extensive UK & European Co-Headline Tour with The Answer.

THE revolving door musical collective that are The Dead
Daisies follow up their 2015 release ‘Recolución with “Make Some Noise” and a
revised line up.
Gone are Richard Fortus and Dizzy Reed to the Guns ‘n’ Roses
revival and in comes ex Whitesnake guitarist Doug Aldrich with the result that
they have produced their best album to date.
Starting with a riff and bass line AC/DC would kill for
these days ‘Long Way To Go’ the intent to deliver classic Hard Rock is fairly
clear. With Corabi sounding very like Steven Tyler and Mendoza and Tichy
hammering out the rhythm section it’s a fairly in your face beginning.
“We All Fall Down” has a more modern vibe to it but keeps
the energy and pace going.
The tempo slows slightly on “Song And a Prayer” but
continues the hard rock groove. Telling the tale of the pitfalls of seeking
fame and fortune in the bright lights of the big City it is a sort of cross
between Aerosmith and Guns ‘n’ Roses in sound and subject matter.
A fairly raucous punk style riff that is rocked up a bit is
next up in the form of “Mainline”. Mendoza and Tichy furiously drive this song
with Aldrich providing the hooks and thrills.
The ‘We Will Rock You’ influenced and title track “Make Some
Noise” thumps its way out of the speakers next. A song that lyrically and in
terms of composition was clearly aimed at the live environment. Full of yells
and hand claps it’s good old fashioned, sing-along Rock ‘n’ Roll.
The Dead Daisies usually throw in a cover or two and first
up is a belting version of Creedance Clearwater Revivals’ “Fortunate Son”.
Corabi does a fine job on vocals and doesn’t try to out Fogerty John Fogerty.
The slight increase in tempo from the original gives this old classic a new
lease of life.
“Last Time I Saw The Sun” is supposedly the tale of life on
the road with endless hotels and stages all starting to look the same. Bit
strange as this reviewer saw the band in broad daylight in Belfast! That aside
this song could easily be an Aerosmith song with its quick tempo. Aldrich gets
to flex his muscles on this too...great song.
“Mine all Mine” is another up tempo song driven along by
Mendoza and Tichy and with some more outstanding guitar work. Guaranteed to get
the toes tapping this one.
The gritty and groove laden “How Does it Feel” demands to be
recognised. More superb guitar work and a simple but effective chorus make this
as catchy as one of those Pokemon thingy’s
“Freedom” catches Aldrich in full on shredding mode and the
by now ridiculously manic drumming and bass work by Tichy and Mendoza may make
this the stand out track on the album.
‘All The Same” has that classic AC/DC bass line to start. A
straightforward rocker with a great gravely vocal performance from Corabi. Just
as you think the song, about trying to tame a wild woman, is about to end they
fire in a faster full on outro. Great ending.
Album closer “Join Together” is a fairly true to the
original cover of the classic ‘The Who’ song. With harmonica and great use of a
voice box this has a really anthemic feel to it and if you were lucky enough to
catch The Dead Daisies live on their current tour you will understand that
totally.
If classic, no frills Hard Rock is your thing then “Make
Some Noise” is a must have album.
CAST your mind back some time and you'll remember that the 'supergroup' that is Dead Daisies wowed audiences when they supported Black Star Riders in a Christmas show in Limelight1.
They proved that they were not just another band of geezers intent on lapping up the cash, but were a bunch of musos having a good time, and playing some killer rock tunes. [Review of that gig is here.]
After achieving critical acclaim and hooking up some stellar tour spots (they toured with Kiss and Def Leppard last month) the band have released their 'Face I Love' ep, a collection of four tracks.
And, they've even released an app to go along with the release... More on that later.
Powered by the stunning vocalist, Jon Stevens (Noiseworks/INXS) and co-founder David Lowry, the combination of these two with bassist and showman Marco Mendoza (Thin Lizzy/Whitesnake), Guns 'n' Roses guitarist Richard Fortus and key tinkler Dizzy Reed and recent drum addition of Brian Tichy (Ozzy/Billy Idol) this is a group that knows its chops.
Released yesterday (September 8th), this is a collection of three original tracks and a cover of the band's favourite Beatles song, 'Helter Skelter'.
Lead track, 'Face I Love' is a smooth riffing rock 'n' roller, languid yet powerful - just as hard rock should be played, with Reed's keys perfectly backing Fortus and Lowry's tones.
'Angel Eyes' is a track with a dirty drive and Stevens vocals roll out as if his vocal chords have been coated with the best bourbon. The pace is picked up for 'Your Karma', with a real honky tonk groove, as all the band step up to get it down.
The cover of 'Helter Skelter' is pure rock nectar, although has an echo of Gillan's version, albeit with super solo snatches from Fortus that may owe a little to Bernie Tormé.
Overall this four-track is an enjoyable placeholder for a band that can bridge the classic rock/Radio2 gap, yet can sit in playlists of hard rock and classic metal.
And - as mentioned earlier - there is a 'Face I Love' app enabling Facebook users to upload a picture of the "face they love" on to Dead Daisies skull and watch it bloom...old fogeys may no truck with this witchcraft, but we're sure plenty will have a dabble with the app...and groove out to all the tracks on Face I Love.

Before the evening's festivities got underway we caught up with Ricky Warwick and John Stevens to chat about how things had been going on during the tour, and thoughts in general.
In a surreal atmosphere of members of Guns 'n' Roses walking around, the session live bass player of the Rolling Stones sitting signing CDs and Marco Mendoza casually walking by it was clear that all the bands were relaxed heading into the last night of the 15-date tour.
From Rocky we learned about the decision to change the name, the lyrical approach and what he thinks of his hometown in 2013.
From John Stevens we learn about how to pull together a rock supergroup and why being attacked by a crocodile didn't stop him from turning up to rehearsals...and playing in casts from a wheelchair.
THERE are sometimes when past glories can overshadow individuals and bands, but there are other instances when those past glories are synthesised by a rare alchemy into a heady mixture of fine rock and finer still stage performances.
Black Star Riders and Dead Daisies proved on Sunday, December 15th at Belfast's Limelight1 that nothing can stop rockers when they show up with great tunes and a great attitude.
Faced with opening for a galaxy of star rockers many bands would be intimidated, but Hampshire's Western Sand took the stage with a swagger and style that shone through in songs rooted in straightforward, heads down rockin' out.
Despite being hampered by having drummer Nathan being isolated from the rest of the band the honest professionalism and energy evoked a positive response from the gradually filling venue.
Findlay on bass was a bundle of energy, while Jimmy and Tyler led from the front; solid stylish vocals and a twin guitar attack to flay. Western Sand showed not only potential but a clear intent to develop and grow as a band.
Dead Daisies are on paper the archetypal rock supergroup, with a collective CV that includes INXS, the Rolling Stones and Guns 'n' Roses and Disney....
With an impressive album [review here] under their belts it would have been an easy task to turn up and just ride the wave of that album's critical acclaim - but not Dead Daisies; they came to Belfast intent on raising the roof.
Jon Stevens has a helluva set of pipes and they were deployed to good use. And a killer combination of being a strong frontman and appearing relaxed in the role won the crowd over from the off.
With Dizzy Reed adding keyboard flourishes his Gunners colleague Richard Fortus delivered stunning solo after stunning solo; a truly par excellence performance.
Tracks like Washington and Miles in Front of Me emerging from the album invigorated in the live environment, the band also - in the words of Stevens - road tested new songs; all of which resonated with solid rock credentials firmly established by the time each chorus arrived.
Bassist Darryl Jones (unusually using a music stand and notation for each song) and David Lowry on rhythm guitarist were locked in tight with Charlie Drayton on drums; this trio forming a solid basis for other band members to allow each song to grow stage legs.
Concluding with a stormer cover of The Beatles Helter Skelter Dead Daisies have all the elements that both win a crowd's backing and also to have that same crowd baying for more.
The Black Star Riders have emerged phoenix like from the remnants of a post-Lynott Thin Lizzy. An album, originally intended to be released under the Lizzy monicker, balanced the heritage of Thin Lizzy and a new intent to produced songs that have a unique identity. [Review here]
But on stage is the real test. Can a fine line be trod that links the past and the present? Achieving that Black Star Riders have an ace in the pack - singer Ricky Warwick. Appearing as part punk-cowboy desperado and part hellbound rocker Warwick dominates the stage, oozing charisma and performing with well-executed stage routines. Whether with mic stand held aloft or with guitar strapped on his frame Warwick proved why he is becoming one of the top frontmen in hard rock.
With a setlist drawing on BSR material and well-executed Lizzy tracks Scott Gorham and Damon Johnson delivered harmony pieces and solos that were note perfect when required and fluid when they took on adventurous six-string work.
BSR songs Bound for Glory and the excellent Kingdom of the Lost shone through, with new breath on stage and an energy most acts would struggle to match.
Bassist Marco Mendoza laid down a solid performance, while at the same time showing himself as a performer for the audience - while all the time locked into Jimmy DeGrasso's drum lines.
Classic Lizzy tracks were delivered faithfully, and at times new twits were introduced such as in the Cowboy Song intro. Southbound, Don't Believe A Word, The Boys Are Back in Town, Emerald and Jailbreak delivered the crowd into the hands of the band members.
All Hell Breaks Loose and Hey Judas were also notable moments, but to try and analyse each track and each performance would be a disservice to BSR. The sum of the parts are a tsunami of rock; a masterclass for aspiring hard rock acts.
Rock royalty is sometimes perceived as a lazy bunch, re-treading the past. Such perceptions were blown aside in the Limelight1 on Sunday as aspirants Western Sand showed swagger need not be about arrogance when you deliver; Dead Daisies showcased how rock can meld together Antipodean power and US-style; while Black Star Riders just laid down sheer rock 'n' roll joy. Joy through hard rock - you just can't beat it!
THE term supergroup is one which can carry a lot baggage - but with Dead Daisies an unlikely combination of ex-members of INXS, current members of Guns 'n' Roses and session men playing with the likes of The Rolling Stones there may be a magic formula at work.
Featuring an array of musical delights their current album has all the great tunes you'd expect from a group of artists who have had their souls firmly locked into the great AOR tunes of the 70s and 80s, but with their hearts and heads bringing the sound bang up to date.
Formed around front man John Stevens (ex-INXS) and David Lowry a rolling line-up of luminaries such as previous members Marco Medoza they have settled on a line-up that sees them surging into the higher echelons of music performance with their self-titled album.
Slash lends some soulful work on lead single, Lock and Load, but having such a guest on that great track should not detract from the rest of the album.
Self-confessed fans of Bad Company and Foreigner, their twist on the classic sound is nothing new; but when treading this road, the only way to make your songs stand out is to don a new pair of cowboy boots and walk with purpose and intent down that road.
From the deep soulful songs like Yesterday, and the excellent opening track, It's Gonna Take Time this is a release that oozes rock and blues. That's not to say they don't know how to rock out - Bible Row being the perfect example of a song that Van Halen or even Queen would have been delighted to have in their repertoire because of its musical pace and nice set of lyrics. The chorus is a killer hook that has you humming along to it from the first listen.
Yes, there is nothing earth-shattering when you hear another act playing 70s and 80s rock, but who cares when it is this good!
The momentary panic of seeing a track with the title Can't Fight This Feeling and expecting an REO Speedwagon cover sneaks off as you sit back and listen to this ode to love.
Dead Daisies pedigree is clear, with Stevens at the helm and David Lowry anchoring down while Richard Fortus (Guns 'n' Roses) flows free; the whole thing hangs around a rhythm section of Darryl Jones (The Rolling Stones touring bassist) and Charley Drayton in drums (ex-Cold Chisel and The Cult).
Having Dizzy Reed (G 'n' R keyboardist) adds flourishes that are subtle but important to add to the rich sound.
With the prospect of Dead Daisies supporting Black Star Riders this release is an excellent introduction to the band; an excellent set of tunes; and a set of songs that can transport you away from the dreary autumn nights to the Californian sun.
