Wizzard tribute to Ronnie

White Wizzard, who are playing in Auntie Annies on November 6th,  are currently streaming new single 'Shooting Star' here.
A tribute to the late and great, Ronnie James Dio, it's the first song to feature the Los Angeles band's new line-up. This comes out as a single through iTunes on October 18, together with a cover of Dio's 'We Rock'. All proceeds form this will go the Children Of The Night charity, founded by Ronnie Dio. Limited edition vinyl version will be available on the night.

White Wizzard

American purveyors of NWOBHM style White Wizzard are playing playing Auntie Annies on the 7th November.

Well, various web sites (rock radio, totalrock) are saying Auntie Annies, but CDC 's web site was initially saying The Limelight...All cleared up now: the gig is definitely at Annies (unless hundreds of you all pile into buy tickets and it has to be upgraded)

Video launch

Quick note to note a video launch...Ozzmium launch their new video at Auntie Annie's next Thursday with a gig that will see them backed by Murdock, Circadian and Last Known Addiction.

Doors are at 9pm with the first band on stage within half an hour of you rushing up the stairs and racing to the bar.

A video launch, a gig and beer....mmm wonder if the Oscars could organise a metal night for their flicks? Avatar with Hatebreed for the battle scenes? Hurt Locker with Pink Floyd as a backdrop? The Educator with Metallica playing Welcome Home (Sanitorium)?

Or just any James Carey movie with a Motley Crue soundtrack?

An Almighty Return

Following his successful show in Katy Dalys earlier this year, The former Almighty vocalist/Guitarist Ricky Warwick is set to make another solo appearance in Belfast.

He will play Auntie Annie's, on Thursday, October 16th. Support will once again come from Michael Mormecha.

He'll once again be playing songs from his forthcoming album, Belfast Confetti as well as solo back catalogue material and songs from The Almighty.

For younger readers...The Almighty were a Glasgow band, fronted by Warwick, who had lived a fair proportion of his formative years in Belfast before his family upped sticks to move across the water. There, with The Almighty Warwick established a trademark hard rock/metal sound, which even briefly bothered the charts. Doomed by bad timing The Almighty's flamed burned bright briefly until the time, in the early 90s record labels weren't willing to touch metal acts with a barge pole and underground labels and the 'net were not on hand to make sure those of the true faith could have access to acts of this calibre.

Since then Warwick has pursued singer songwriter material ranging from soulful acoustic to his rock and metal roots. Recently he has made several appearances here, all earning appropriately excellent reviews.

Doors on the 16th will be at 8pm, and admission will be £5.50.

Grand date at Auntie's

Grand Magus - one of the most underrated of the battle/fantasy metal acts currently on the scene - are set for a Belfast appearance on October 27th in a Distortion Project promoted gig at Auntie Annie's.

For the uninitiated Grand Magus are Swedish classic metallers, with a penchant for epic tales of pre-Christian romance, battles, vengeance and errr, well lots of the same, plus gratuitous killing.

Promoting their new album, Iron Will, Magus will hit the stage with Belgian doomsters Serpent Cult and Norn Iron's own Honey for Christ.

Grand Magus have been knocking about the underground scene for more than eight years, with members also involved in numerous side projects (newest member, drummer Seb, played with Glenn Hughes touring outfit).

They'll bring an epic world to the intimate surroundings of Auntie Annie's and with tickets at a miserly £12 (on sale now from Katy Daly's and GetUrTicket) there should be no excuse not to get your asses into gear for a night that will show all the fans of 'new' battle/fantasy metal that it's been around for years and has some fine original proponents.
