Summer of metal well underway - welcome back Slayer

SO you'll all have been along this coming Saturday to see Stormzone, Baleful Creed et al at The Distortion Project at Limelight2, before heading up to see guitar maestro Pat McManus in The Empire.

Come Sunday you might want to wallow in the hangover...but you would be a fool to do that; especially when Slayer are in town to give you a Sunday evening hair of the hard rock dog in Limelight1.

We hear whispers there are still tickets left for the Sunday show, but make sure you get 'em early to avoid disappointment. And, seriously, who would want to miss Slayer? No fan of metal should pass this up.

After all the Slayer Monday night show is sold out, as is the Anthrax Tuesday night show (and Ritchie Sambora nearly sold out the same night), you might as well go to Slayer on Sunday...hold on, let me re-phrase that - you MUST go to Slayer on Sunday night.

The two Belfast dates and the Dublin date are the only non-festival shows in the British Isles, so attending should be compulsory for self-respecting metalhead.

"What!", I hear you cry, "are Slayer not over-the-hill and only half the originals". Shut your mouth you ignoramus! Slayer are re-invigorated after last year's tragic death of Jeff and the dispute with Lombardo.

A new record deal with Nuclear Blast and a teaser track free to download from their site; Slayer are moving forward into the next chapter of their brutal musical storytelling...and arguably you could say that Slayer and Anthrax are the only two bands of the Big Four still relevant against the backdrop of mediocrity....

See y'all on Sunday - let the Slaytonic Whermacht assemble!

The (Kerry) King has risen! Belfast's resident speed metal thrashers are back on 30th June

SLAYER - the name synonymous with speed metal thrash, the wicked infusion of west coast US Punk, metal and speed that sticks a middle finger at the scenesters and fashionistas of the music business are coming back to Belfast on 30th June 2014.

Yes - the band which sold out a 2013 Limelight1 date in a stunning record smashing three minutes are coming back to the Ormeau Avenue venue once again to level Belfast ahead of their European festival dates.

Those who have seen Slayer before know what to expect...those who saw Slayer at the Limelight1 last year know that seeing them in such an almost intimate venue is almost a revelatory experience.

Screw the doubters, screw the magazines who and TV channels obsessed with the latest PR insider gossip - Slayer are not changing, never will change for evermore and always pound all in front of them.

Yes, there are a very, very few naysayers, but rest assured they won't be there on 30th June 2014 at Limelight1 and are not among the anointed Slaytonic Whermacht.

Tickets go on sale (and will sell at an equally rapid rate) on Friday. £35+booking fee from...well we suggest you find out quick how to get hold of them...[Clue - usual outlets]

[UPDATE: Slayer's Facebook page has an additional date on 29th June too - nothing confirmed as yet from Limelight, will let you know when and if it is confirmed]

IT'S OFFICIAL - SLAYER TO RETURN IN AUGUST

YES! Let the Slaytonic Whermacht arise! Within 48 hours of Slayer's Limelight1 sell-out show tonight tickets will go on sale for the metal titans return to Belfast on August 13th.

At 9am on Friday, June 14th tickets - priced at £35 (+bking fee) will go on sale. They will be available at the usual Ticketmaster sites and outlets. In addition 100 will be on sale at Katy's Bar, and will be strictly limited to two per person.

With reports already in of Slayer's crushing performances in the opening dates of their World Domination 2013 tour bringing the overlords of thrash and speed to Belfast for a second time in two months is not only a coup for the folks at the Limelight, but something the metal community will welcome with open arms.

And, given the fact that tonight's show sold out in under five minutes it will be the early bird who swoops with raptor claws outstretched to snag tickets for the August 13th date.

It is also set to be two days of metal mayhem at the Limelight1. On August 12th Lamb of God bring their take on pure destructive and lyrically astute metal to Belfast.

Body parts and liver toxicity levels are at your oww risk but these are two days sure to bring a smile to even the dark, hardened hearst of even the most jaded metalhead. Poseurs, or those who 'just want to see' need not bother - let the metal mayhem be unleashed!

Come one and all and let us "Dance with the dead in our dreams" and "listen to to their hallowed screams". For now is the time when we will see:
"Raining blood
From a lacerated sky
Bleeding its horror
Creating my structure
Now I [wel] shall in Reign in Blood"

Yes - Slayer in Belfast twice: time to "spread a little hate worldwide"!
