NEWS: Screaming Eagles set to release Live at Bonfest

SCREAMING Eagles will release their new live album ‘Live At Bonfest’ on March 29th 2018. The album will be released on CD and digitally with pre-orders available from March 16th.

‘Live At Bonfest’ captures the bands raw and energetic performance at one of their favourite festivals - the internationally renowned Bonfest Festival in Kirriemuir, Scotland.

The performance took place on April 29th 2017 in a year that took the band to France, Germany and all over the UK including performances at Ramblin’ Man Fair and Camden Rocks.

Lead singer Chris Fry says of the new live album “Bonfest was our first show of 2017 and is one of our favourite festivals to play, we were chomping at the bit to get onstage, I think this came across really well in the recording and captures us doing what we do best, warts n’ all as they say, with the help of a few cans of Tennents and the national tipple of Buckfast of course...the spirit of the festival is pure rock n’ roll, it’s the birthplace of Bon Scott after all, with a huge international attendance in a tiny Scottish town.

"With bands playing on flatbed trucks in the street, Phil Rudd on the bill, what more could you ask for, a special place for sure and a festival we felt privileged to be asked to play”.

The 9-track album spans the bands two albums with a few covers thrown in for good measure.

Live At Bonfest was recorded with the help of Graham Galloway at DD8 Music and mixed and mastered by Frankie McClay at Einstein Studios.

The album is available on CD from www.screamingeagles.bigcartel. com and on all digital platforms.

Screaming Eagles are currently working on their third studio album in Northern Ireland.

Ramblin Man 2017 Day Two: Mud, metal, rock and four packed stages

AFTER the wind and showers of Day One the dawning of the second day came with cloud and a little sun - but it wasn't long before more rain swept across Kent, dumping water on the Ramblers at Mote Park, Maidstone.

But as with the previous day those attending Ramblin Man 2017 were not to be deterred - and with four stages to chose from the day and night reverberated with guitar driven music and a lot of people with hastily donned ponchos and raincoats...

With 30 bands it was impossible for reviewers, photographers and fans to see every band - but to be spoilt for choice is no real problem when a plethora of acts are pounding out at the top of their proverbial game.

For those who are unfamiliar with Ramblin Man the stages are all within a few minutes walk, from the main stage, to the Grooverider Stage, to the Outlaw Country stage or to the Rising Stage. [NB the Grooverider stage transforms to Prog in the Park on Sunday and the Country stage transmogrifies to Blues on Sunday].

But when it all comes down to it the smorgasbord of acts had people scurrying around, simply enjoying themselves - as the arena opened to the strains of blues rockers The Nile Deltas laid back blues power.

Being biased we have to highlight the fact that Trucker Diablo and Screaming Eagles drew good crowds to the Rising Stage - engaging all with their high tempo entertainment with fists in the air and horns being thrown.

However, the main stage opened with guitar virtuoso Jared James Nichols showca
sing his talent on his trusty single pick-up Les Paul.

While Toseland were making a return to the park as their set came to a conclusion there was a noticeable buzz as people gathered to see British Lion - yes that British Lion with one Mr Steve Harris. Even in the remoteness of the Press Area there was a noticeable roar as the band mounted the stage.

While Reef had everyone's hands in the air - you know the song - on the Grooverider stage one half of Tenacious D brought joy. Yes, The Kyle Gas Band had a unique take on rock, with added dashes of fun and ridiculousness delivered to a backdrop of tight musicianship.

Despite trying to keep their composure the crowd were quickly into their second wind when Glenn Hughes mounted the main stage for a consummate performance, that of course ended with an extended version of 'Burn'.

Splitting time between a humourous and fun set by Dan Baird and the Homemade Sin and Dokken invoking the 80s abandon provided the media plenty of execise. A quick few songs were caught from the excellent Rival Sons' before the Black Star Riders stormed the main stage.

And, they really did storm it. Hit after hit, choruses belted out by band and audience. Ricky Warwick holding thousands in the palm of his hand.

With three albums to pick from the band's identity is becoming ever more solid -they truly have a live 'Killer Instinct'.

Headliners Extreme arrived with much expectation, as they were re-visiting their hit album Pornograffiti.

Of course, songs such as 'Get The Funk Out' and 'More Than Words' are lodged in the collective memory of rock fans - memes before memes took on their internet definition.

Nuno laid down some terrific solos, proving - if it ever needed proving that he is a true maestro of six-strong histrionics.

However, at times the set lacked a certain something, perhaps a band a little too confident, but the amount of people streaming out of the arena to hotels and the camp site was evidence that not everyone was overjoyed by Extreme's show.

Indeed it was the subject of much debate the next day....

INTERVIEW: Screaming Eagles set for summer festivals, a live album and prepare for next release

WITH a series of festival appearances set for the summer Northern Ireland rockers Screaming Eagles have a busy schedule for the rest of the year. We caught up with axeman Adrian McAleenan to check on what lies ahead.

As we enter July the band are gearing up for a series of shows.

"We've got SOS Fest, Ramblin' Man Fair and Rockwich coming up over the summer along with some local performances at Sunflowerfest and Linenfields," said Adrian.

Never ones to let up Sreaming Eagles will be heading to the studio

"We'll be back in writing mode to finish off the album, we've got about 4 tracks so far which are absolutely rockin', so a bit more hard graft and we should get there by the end of the year with a 2018 release," he said.

And for anyone who has witnessed the high energy show the 'Screagles' lay on there is exciting news ahead.

"We've also got a live album coming out after the summer, I've heard some of the mixes this past week and it's sounding really good, plenty to look forward to."

And, let's be honest we look forward to it to! Until then here's a Screaming Eagles classic!

LIVE REVIEW: Buckcherry bring the rock and Screaming Eagles bring the roll to Belfast

THE last time Buckcherry played Belfast it was a rather lack lustre performance. But on October 12th in front of a sold out Limelight2 you would have thought it was a completely different band, such was the energy and verve from Josh Todd and his rock 'n' roll troubadours.

Before the packed venue got to catch Buckcherry local heroes Screaming Eagles laid down the gauntlet and picked up the bottle of Buckfast...

The hard work of touring is sometimes seen as an alien concept when allied to the phrase 'local' band, but Screaming Eagles have bagged experience and confidence and as always produce a consummate professional performance.

But being professional does not mean the show is without soul. This is hard rock that reaches down to the very core of what makes rock 'n' roll great. Chris is the joker with the voice of a lion, and Adrian has the moves and the licks to raise the rafters of any venues.

The song 'Rock 'n' Roll Soul' is the rousing closer, but the titular 'Screaming Eagles' is also a stand-out energising the crowd and drawing yells all round. World domination awaits.

World domination once seemed a cert for Buckcherry, and after break ups and some flailing around they have re-grouped and take to the stage in Belfast as if they have re-discovered their hunger.

This, and the Dublin show, may have been just warm-ups for their stadium tour with Steel Panther, but they approached it as if they had to prove to the crowd and themselves that they are still worthy of sell-out shows.

From opener 'Sunshine' to closing with '2Drunk' Josh leads the crowd on a merry rockin' dance.

The other founder from the early days, Keith Nelson and Stevie D are in synch throughout, trading licks and smiles.

Of course many were there for the 'hits', 'Crazy Bitch' and 'Lit Up' but Buckcherry can now stand up without reliance on a couple of tracks. That 'Crazy Bitch' can be relegated to mid-set and have 'Say Fuck It' from their 'Fuck' ep leading the encore is evidence that Buckcherry have established themselves as a more mature act.

Whatever elixir they have consumed to bring them back to this level should be shared amongst the many...
