'Tallica Knebworth date

Metallica's long touted Milton Keynes date has been confirmed for...Knebworth on Sunday August 2nd. Last time I was at Knebworth was in 1985 with Deep Purple's Perfect Strangers tour (UFO, Blackfoot, Meat Loaf and Mama's Boys on the bill....giving away my age here!), and I recall it as being one of the better festival venues in the UK.

But more importantly Metallica have seen fit to say they will definitely not be at Knebworth on Saturday August 1st...wonder if they could be setting up a date somewhere else in the British Isles that day...

Metallica rumour mill rolls on

The Metallica rumour mill rolls on, with rumours of a Knebworth date in July and an Irish date (north or south!) spreading on the lips of many a hopeful fan. Adding fuel to the fire was the following statement released on metallica.com

"As you probably noticed, there are a few open dates on the calendar this summer and we'll be filling them by visiting some of our favorite spots in Europe and hitting the annual music festivals."

Metallica UK tour dates

Metallica are to play Nottingham Arena February 25, Manchester MEN Arena 26, Sheffield Arena 28, London 02 Arena March 2, Newcastle Arena 3, Birmingham LG Arena 25, Glasgow SECC 26, London 02 Arena 28. Tickets go on sale at 9am on October 24. Machine Head and The Sword will support. No confirmation of an Irish or Northern Irish date...yet.
