NEWS: Guns n' Roses sell out Slane in a single day

WELL would you adam and eve it, but 25 years after they first played Slane Guns n' Roses have gone and sold out the venue.

80,000 tickets were sold in a single day...

That means that in total the band have sold one million - yes one million - tickets for their Not In This Lifetime tour.

"I am delighted that GnR at Slane is sold out, with fans coming to the show from all over the world re-affirming Slane as one of the world's top venues and bringing a major boost to tourism“  said Lord Henry Mountcharles.

Guns N’Roses’ European and Canadian dates for their continued 2017 Not in This Lifetime Tour sold more than 1 million tickets in a single day, after going on sale Friday (9th December last).
And that's just the Irish, European and Canadian dates.

NEWS: Guns n' Roses set for Slane date in May

THE much talked about Guns n' Roses 'Not In This Lifetime' tour is set to land at Slane Castle on May 27th, 2017, the first date of the European leg of the tour.

And the owners of Slane seem pretty pleased to welcome the Gunners back...

Speaking on the announcement Lord Henry Mountcharles stated "We are really thrilled to have one of the most excitIng rock n' roll bands in the world coming back to Slane 25 years after they first played, the same month in 1992 which was critically considered to be one of the best Slane’s ever."

While Lord Henry’s daughter Lady Tamara Conyngham is thrilled by next years headliners "I’m just so excited that I will finally get the chance to see one of the greats. I missed them the first time round the fact I get a second chance is pretty incredible."

While son Alex recalled the last time Guns N’ Roses visited Slane “They were massive for us at the time and an amazing act to witness. I remember Axl coming out on stage and the crowd just going bananas. The energy was incredible."
The Not In This Lifetime Tour has sold over 2 million tickets throughout 2016 while also grossing over $200 million to become the year’s most successful rock tour.

The Not In This Lifetime Tour, visited 21 cities (25 shows) in less than 2 months, wrapped the first North America leg last summer before setting its eyes on South America.  In South America, the band completely sold out all 15 dates of the tour including 13 stadium dates.

The current line-up is Axl Rose (vocals, piano), Duff McKagan (bass), Slash (lead guitar), Dizzy Reed (keyboard), Richard Fortus (rhythm guitar), Frank Ferrer (drums), and Melissa Reese (keyboard).

Tickets go on sale Friday, 9th December.

Chaimira cancel Gunners go ahead...

ACCORDING to Totalrock.com Chaimira have cancelled their UK tour - including a Belfast gig - owing to "acute illness" in the band.

This comes a couple of days after Guns 'n' Roses said their tour was going ahead after Axl's Twitter account had been hacked with the claim that the tour was off.

Well, given that it is Axl and a few mates/session musicians, we know which gig we would rather be going ahead.

While I was too lazy to post about G 'n' R being back on (well it was all over the Interwebby!) I have got a wee bit of cynicism hanging about. No-one was talking about the G 'n' R tour, few tweets or blogs mentioned it: the advertisements were still appearing for the Odyssey show and Reading and Leeds were not attracting the usual coverage. Then, apropos of nothing the story about the tour cancellation comes about. The band's PR company waited several hours to say anything. In the meantime every news outlet, including primetime BBC news/talk shows were covering the story; even our own Belfast Telegraph carried a story on it!

Which gave the band and the tour priceless publicity...

I'm not naturally cynical (okay I am!) but this non-story suited the tour profile very well indeed.

Axl axes tour?

RUMOURS abound that all forthcoming G 'n' R dates are cancelled, after a post on Axl Rose's Twitter account.

Whether it is really true - and the Belfast date is cancelled - rumours are the tickets haven't exactly been flying out of the window across all tour dates.

Is this a dignified withdrawl, or will we see a 'too much snow on the roof' type of excuse รก la Crue.

Confirmation/more word etc once we have it

Chinese Democracy to see light of day?

Guns 'n' Roses (well Axl anyway!) seem finally about to release the most overdue CD of all time...Chinese Democracy. First taste will go to fans of the XBox 369 Rock Band game. The sequel (cunningly titled Rock Band 2) will include a track from Chinese Democracy entitled 'Shackler's Revenge'.

But with Metallica, AC/DC, System Of A Down, Motorhead, Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, Disturbed, Dream Theater, Bon Jovi, Jethro Tull, Rage Against The Machine, Ratt, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rush, The Smashing pumpkins, Steely Dan, Testament, The Offspring and The Who all contributing tracks will anyone notice Axl's track?

Oh dear Celine

The dubious honour of the worst cover version ever has gone to Celine Dion's awful live cover of AC/DCs You Shook Me All Night Long...36 seconds of the horror is available for the stout of heart on the BBC website here.

Guns 'N' Roses make it on to the 'worst covers' list for their version of Wings Live and Let Die...read the others and I dare you not to smile at the fact that a boy band managed to screw up Extreme's More than Words - a slushfest that didn't reflect half of what the inappropriately named Extreme could do!

Pepper's Democracy incentive

Dr Pepper could be stung to the tune of 260 million cans. The soft drink company has said they will give every citizen of the United States a free can of Dr Pepper if Guns 'n' Roses release Chines Democracy before the end of the year. Nice gimmick, but not much chance of them having to pay up!
