THE Graham Bonnet Band have been carving an impressive string of live appearances on the back of the recent album 'The Book' and Mr Bonnet's lengthy career.
With the tour almost complete Graham and his band mates landed in Belfast on one of the last dates of almost 12 months on the road.
Before the show (review here) he sat down for a chat about the past, present and future. This is what he had to say:

LIVE REVIEW: Graham Bonnet blasts out the hits of yesteryear and looks forward to the next chapter
CLASSIFIED as a veteran of the hard rock Graham Bonnet carries himself as if he was just another singer paying his dues on stage, earning plaudits through performances not posing. When he played Belfast on Saturday (19th November) he was received as if he was the hottest new ticket in town.
Sure he has all the hits, but this was more than a retrospective show, this was a band looking forward to the future.
Before The Graham Bonnet Band graced the Limelight stage there was also a chance to remind ourselves of when the NWOBHM was not just a buzz word but was a real music movement in the rock pantheon.
Chrome Molly were kicking about with contemporaries such as Maiden and Leppard, but it was the late 80s scored a lot of airplay on the likes of The Friday Rock Show. What is immediate from the start is this is a five-piece that retains its hunger.
Steve Hawkins grins throughout and is a thoroughly engaging front man, and while the newer material is well received, 'Shooting Me Down' receives the best reception of their set.
When Graham Bonnet assembled his band there may have been a suspicion that this was a chance for him to tour on the back of his work with the likes of Rainbow, MSG, Alcatrazz etc. But he is a canny crooner, with plenty of creativity left.
With the release of 'The Book' in September Bonnet proved once again that there is plenty still to come from a man entitled to his bus pass. When he bounded on to the stage he showed an energy many younger singers would envy.
Of course, all the hits that were expected were given an airing, but what might have came as a surprise to some is that tracks from 'The Book', such as the excellent 'Into The Night' were given a warm welcome and a smattering of the audience singing along.
Conrad Pesinato is clearly more than a hired axeman. He is the six-strong foil for Bonnet on both new and old songs, with some nice touches to tweak the sound of classics that could have otherwise been tired.
From 'Eyes of the World' through to 'Lost in Hollywood' there was not a foot put wrong. Amiable and at ease Bonnet banters with the crowd in between a lot of the songs. He and Pesinato, together with Beth-Ami Heavenstone (bass), have clearly bonded musically and as a band over almost a year of touring.
It was a set littered with highlights including 'God Blessed Video', 'Dancer' and 'Night Games'. However, it was the closing trio that capped the evening off in special style. 'Since You've Been Gone', 'Assault Attack' and "Lost in Hollywood' would stretch any band trying to maintain their energy on the last leg of a set. But The Graham Bonnet Band powered through. One can never tell the strain on the band playing three classic songs, but many a person in the audience would have awoken on Sunday ever so slightly hoarse from yelling almost every lyric.
For some it is easy to write off the likes of The Graham Bonnet Band, but to do so would be a mistake. There is more to come from Mr Bonnet, and one can also hope that many who packed out the Limelight will take the time to come out to see up and coming local acts as well as the bigger names.
When Graham and his compatriots fly back to their respective homes what we can hope is that when their next touring itinerary Belfast will once again be included...and maybe get to hear even more new songs in the set.

NEWS: The Quireboys to land with full electric set for two-night stand in the Diamond Rock Club
THE gypsies of rock 'n' roll, the troubadours telling tales of broken hearts, the men who can make you weep and smile at the same time, the band who have more melancholic melodies are coming back to Northern Ireland for a two-date stand.They will play a full-electric set in the Diamond Rock Club, Ahoghill on Friday, April 7th and Saturday April 8th.
These will be the only dates on the island of Ireland on the Twisted Love Tour.
Spike and co have always been faithful visitors to Belfast and Ahoghill, and given the strength of the past number of albums, not to mention the bucket loads of hits to their name these are two nights that will shift like the proverbial from a stick.
Lauded as their loudest and proudest album for 25 years, Twisted Love screams heartache, passion, tears and tension. And it’s time for the record’s most powerful themes to be unleashed.
“We made this record with a full-on rock and roll show in mind,” said guitarist Guy Griffin. “The songs are some of the strongest we’ve ever written and that comes across best when all six of us are on stage and the volume is turned up.”
Not since the band’s early 90s heyday have The Quireboys sounded so compelling and so relevant. The bittersweet title track, bullish Breaking Rocks and terrific Ghost Train reveal a band going back to the future and back to what they always did best.
And if The Quireboys have proved themselves masters of an intimate and intriguing unplugged experience, then rocking out remains their traditional calling card.
“We played a handful of fully plugged shows in the UK earlier this year and the response to the new songs was tremendous,” added Griffin. “Those gigs gave us the confidence to dig deep into Twisted Love on the next tour and we can’t wait.”
Twisted Love is The Quireboys’ 10th studio album and the sound of a band enjoying a creative rebirth and a rich vein of songwriting form. More than 30 years after bursting onto the UK’s rock and roll scene their incendiary live shows continue to set the standard for the next generation of homegrown heroes.

NEWS: Black Star Riders announce February release of Heavy Fire, lyric video for first single out now
Nuclear Blast has announced the release of Black Star Riders third studio album, “Heavy Fire”, in February 2017. The band will support the album with a full UK and Eire tour in March 2017, including Belfast and Dublin shows.
The band previous album, “The Killer Instinct”, was released in 2015 to widespread critical acclaim and went on to score multiple radio playlists.

LIVE REVIEW: Ugly Kid Joe rock Belfast's Limelight one the back of four years on tour
Ugly Kid Joe are one of those bands that everyone knows: the 'sk8r doods' from the Nineties who are, almost inexplicably, still riding a huge wave of popularity.
They have - as frontman Whitfield Crane explains to a packed Limelight 1 tonight - been touring almost non stop for the last four years (tonight is the penultimate gig of the tour), as well as releasing a new album for the first time in nineteen years, the wittily titled Uglier Than They Used Ta Be, last year.
But most importantly, do they still have 'it'?
Before we find out, we are treated to support act Dallas Frasca, who have flown “allllll the way from Australia!” to entertain their first ever Belfast crowd, as fiesty frontwoman and band namesake Dallas Frasca announces.
Despite her vocals getting a bit lost in the mix at times, their modern take on classic rock soon gets the crowd moving and cheering their approval – particularly one hoodie-clad superfan who is so excited to see the band that he almost can't contain the energy in his body.
Vocally, Frasca is an intriguing mix of Blondie, Brody Dalle and Suzi Quatro, and the band's 'twin guitar no bass' heavy riffs and almost glam rock vibe matches her voice perfectly.
She interacts well with the crowd, at one point even wriggling over the barrier to wander amongst everyone; the sight of her surrounded by kneeling fans as they sing along with her is a truly memorable moment (not to mention a great photo opp). In all, their half hour set is terrifically entertaining and rollicking good fun.
When the stage lights flash and headliners Ugly Kid Joe take to the stage, the roar that goes up signifies just how loved the band are here in Belfast. Opening their set with fan favourite 'Neighbour', they spend the next hour and a half delighting the crowd with their clear joy at being onstage and a wealth of great music.
In Whitfield Crane UKJ are in possession of simply one of the most charismatic and charming frontmen in rock.
Utterly at ease onstage, his level of crowd interaction is superb, as he singles out people whose energy he loves (at one stage the entire crowd is chanting “Ian! Ian!” under his direction; they even bring the man in question onstage to finish off their last song), commending everyone's “badass energy” and joking around in a way that's at once delightfully silly and warmly affectionate.
At his behest, everyone claps along to virtually every song, sings great chunks of tracks such as 'Cat's In the Cradle' and generally lies in the palm of his hand all night long.
Acknowledging the fact that they were here just a short time ago (at the end of 2013), Crane announces that there will be some surprises to keep the show interesting.
Thus we are treated to a snippet of 'Alternative Ulster' (at which the crowd erupts), a thunderous cover of Motorhead's 'Ace of Spades', and “two obscure Ugly Kid Joe songs, acoustic”, which turns out to be 'Come Tomorrow' and 'Cloudy Skies'; both of which showcase Crane's crystal clear vocals which can often get lost in the normal chaos of a rock show.
They also play 'Under the Bottom' from their latest album, which reveals a more mature sound, with some clean guitar work and often sombre lyrics.
With no encore, they play right up until the end without a break, finishing off with 'Tomorrow's World', 'VIP' and their ubiquitous classic 'Everything About You', which sends everyone into paroxysms of delight. It's a suitably joyful ending to an outstanding evening, and one that puts a lasting smile on every single gig goer's face.
Despite probably being more famous for their older work than their newer, tonight's gig showed that UKJ are definitely still a force to be reckoned with. Brash, fun and almost ridiculously entertaining, it was only Crane's Nineties surfer shorts (and slight beer belly) that belied their longevity in the music industry.
They may have dispensed with the piss and vinegar of their youth, but they've lost none of their ability to charm and entertain an audience. In short: yes, they've still got 'it'.

Legendary New Jersey thrashers, OVERKILL, have announced their upcoming eighteenth album, ‘The Grinding Wheel’.
The album will be released on February 10th, 2017 via Nuclear Blast.

The follow-up to 2015’s storming ‘Blossom’ is titled ‘Modern Ruin’ and lands via their own imprint International Death Cult via Kobalt Label Services on Friday 27th January 2017.
Billed as a ‘daring, boldly anthemic record’ and Frank Carter’s ‘most infectious to date’, the album was mixed by Catherine Marks (Foals/ Wolf Alice) and recorded by Thomas Mitchener, the band’s former touring bassist in his own Broadfields Studio.
As a tantalising taster, the band have unleashed another song, 'Lullaby’, which follows in the footsteps of blistering current single 'Snake Eyes'.

Northern Irish rock legends The Answer have announced their Belfast Limelight Solas album show on Feb 25th 2017.
The date comes hot on the heels of their UK & European Solas tour which has sold out in Glasgow, Newcastle, Holmfirth, Birmingham and Brighton. Tickets on sale Friday November18th at 9am. Support comes from Maverick.

With much heralded reviews for the new album and comparisons to Led Zeppelin 3, The Answer are now being acclaimed for their more “Celtic-sounding” arrangements and instrumentation as they delve into a darker and more modern sound.
A decade into the band’s career, Solas marks a significant turning point for The Answer. Having gone back to their roots and rediscovered their inner selves Solas is an honest and brave album that panders to no label, to no media framework and to no rules.
It is dark, occasionally menacing and at certain moments, joyous and uplifting. The symbol that sits on the front cover, the ancient Celtic sign for ‘illumination’, bears witness to this 2016 musical evolution. The Answer are firmly embarked upon a new journey.
